Deborah Jordan
Science Educator

Deborah Jordan joined BSCS in April 2004 and works primarily in the Center for Professional Development.
Her work at BSCS has allowed her to direct the revisions to BSCS Science Tracks: Connecting Science & Literacy and provide literacy strategies for essays in BSCS Biology: A Human Approach. In addition she has collaborated on several projects including NACL, LessonLab, MSU PROM/SE, and SCALE. Currently Deb serves as a member of the Science Disciplinary Literacy Team with the Institute for Learning at the University of Pittsburgh. She also works with the Ministry of Education in Singapore developing inquiry-based lesson packages.
Deb began her career in science education as a classroom teacher. She served as a district science coordinator for six years providing professional development and facilitating the alignment of curriculum to state standards. During her seven years as an educational consultant with Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning (McREL) she provided professional development and technical assistance to numerous states and districts. In addition, she co-authored, Teaching Reading in Science.
Deb has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Colorado. Her Master’s degree is in Special Education: Moderate Needs from the University of Northern Colorado.
