Dear Members of the BSCS Community:
It is with profound sadness that I share the news with you that Jerry Waldvogel died unexpectedly on 30 May. Jerry was a long time friend and supporter of BSCS, most recently serving as the Chair of the Board of Directors since 2006. Prior to becoming chair, he served as a board member from 1993-1999 and again from 2003-2005. His dedication to science education, and particularly the teaching of evolution, was unparalleled. Most importantly, Jerry was an amazing human being who lived his values in all that he did. These values included respecting others, acting with integrity, honoring his commitments, and maintaining a sense of humor. As a result of living these values with authenticity, Jerry was loved, respected, and admired by those who had the privilege of working with him. He made BSCS a better organization - our lives and work are forever changed because of his influence. We will continue to honor the values that Jerry embodied through our work.
