New from BSCS
BTH CoverBSCS is excited to announce the new edition of the science teaching resource you’ve been waiting for! Building upon the foundation of the first three editions, The Biology Teacher’s Handbook, 4th Edition has been updated to reflect contemporary issues and current understandings of science and teaching.

You will find this new edition packed full of insights into effective teaching strategies, inquiry-based instruction, course planning, and program selection. Designed around five questions: What are the goals of the program for my students and me? (Section 1); How can I help students understand the nature of science? (Section 2); How do I teach controversial topics? (Section 3); How can I create a culture of scientific inquiry in my classroom? (Section 4); Where has biology teaching been, and where is it going? (Section 5), the book is intended to support you as you build a culture of inquiry in your classroom.

Since The Biology Teacher’s Handbook was first released in 1960, biology teachers have counted it among their most valuable resources. The third edition was published in 1978 and was taken out of print in the mid-eighties. Fourteen BSCS science educators contributed to the 4th edition, published by NSTA Press and released in March.
