{"id":340,"date":"2022-07-11T16:00:46","date_gmt":"2022-07-11T16:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bscs.org\/climate\/?post_type=profile&#038;p=340"},"modified":"2024-05-29T21:54:10","modified_gmt":"2024-05-29T21:54:10","slug":"emily-harris","status":"publish","type":"profile","link":"https:\/\/bscs.org\/climate\/profile\/emily-harris\/","title":{"rendered":"Emily Harris"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Experience or expertise\/projects of note:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I design instructional materials with and for local communities and national audiences.\u00a0 I lead BSCS\u2019s work on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bscs.org\/rd-programs\/place-based-learning-for-elementary-science-at-scale\/\"><em>Place-Based Learning for Elementary Science at Scale <\/em>(PeBLES2)<\/a>, designing adaptable units that invite teachers to incorporate meaningful phenomena for students. I\u2019ve been a curriculum writer on the\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/bscs.org\/educator_resource\/openscied-middle-grades-science-units\/\">OpenSciEd Middle School Program<\/a><\/em>,\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/bscs.org\/educator_resource\/restoring-ea-middle-school-science-unit\/\">Restoring \u2018Ea<\/a><\/em>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bscs.org\/educator_resource\/invitations-to-inquiry-with-fieldscope\/\"><em>Invitations to Inquiry <\/em>with FieldScope<\/a>. I am also a researcher on the\u00a0<em>Climate Empowerment Learning Initiative <\/em>(CELI), a network improvement community that is co-creating climate justice learning experiences that support teacher agency and student learning and belonging. My prior research on youth learning through citizen and community science used the environmental science agency framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reasons I\u2019m excited about this project:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Working to address the climate crisis is the most important thing we could be doing in science education.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":209,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":true,"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"profile_type":[4],"class_list":["post-340","profile","type-profile","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","profile_type-project-team"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
