STeLLA Leadership Goals

  • Increase abilities to make decisions when planning, leading, and reflecting on STeLLA professional learning aligned with the program philosophy, goals, and curricula.
  • Deepen understanding of and abilities to lead analysis-of-practice professional learning as a transformative experience for teachers.
  • Deepen understanding of the characteristics of professional learning communities and enhance abilities to establish and grow a community of learners.
  • Deepen understanding of the change process and increase abilities to work with teachers as they implement the STeLLA approach to teaching and learning.

What are the benefits?

By participating in this Institute, PD Leaders will:

  • join a community of thoughtful, passionate leaders in science education;
  • deepen leadership knowledge, skills, and abilities; and
  • expand available resources and flexibility in work with teachers in their school(s).

After participating in the program, PD providers will be able to:

  • plan, lead, and evaluate workshops that help teachers enact three-dimensional, phenomenon-based teaching and learning in their classrooms;
  • use a variety of “close-to-the-classroom” routines and strategies to support teachers in strengthening their classroom practice;
  • monitor and adjust plans based on data and understandings about leading change; and
  • increase intentionality in leadership practices.
