Science Educator

Betty Stennett joined BSCS as a curriculum developer in 2004. She has been involved in developing curriculum for multi-year projects as well as small units. Most recently she has developed NGSS designed curriculum for OpenSciEd focusing on the physical sciences. Betty has also developed curriculum for many online, blended, and face-to-face professional learning opportunities for teachers and teacher leaders.

Leading professional development for schools implementing NGSS curriculum and schools and districts committed to teaching science as inquiry is another one of Betty’s passions. Her current work at BSCS includes development and delivery of professional learning, developing NGSS curriculum, and serving as PI on the STeLLA CO2 project.

Before joining BSCS, Betty worked with the Texas Rural Systemic Initiative as a regional science specialist where she supported systemic reform for science teachers in K-12 schools in rural west Texas. She has 13 years teaching experience in both middle and high school, teaching courses in chemistry, physics, physical science, environmental science, and Earth science.

Betty earned a BS in Education, an MS in Multidisciplinary Science, and a ME in Instructional Technology from Texas Tech University. She lives in rural west Texas and works from home. While away from work, Betty enjoys reading, sewing, star gazing, and most importantly, spoiling her four grandchildren.
