Professional Learning for Three-Dimensional, Phenomena/Problem-Based Teaching and Learning Workshops
At BSCS, our professional learning facilitators are committed to supporting science educators as they navigate three-dimensional, phenomena/problem-based teaching and learning.
Whether you’re looking to learn more about what next generation science teaching and learning could look like in your classroom or you’re ready to fully immerse yourself at an upcoming workshop, BSCS has something to offer right now.
Upcoming Workshops
Join us for an upcoming workshop to enhance your knowledge, confidence, and abilities to lead three-dimensional, phenomena/problem-based science teaching and learning in your classroom.
Each workshop is designed for a specific grade band, targets particular science and engineering practices and cross-cutting concepts, and highlights an energy-focused or earth science-focused phenomenon.
Workshops will be hosted in person at BSCS HQ in Colorado Springs, Colorado, throughout June 2025. Classroom teachers, teacher leaders, and district science leaders are encouraged to attend.
In-person workshop dates:

- June 11-12, 2025
- With a focus on energy, this workshop is designed for high school teachers.
- June 17-18, 2025
- With a focus on earth and space science, this workshop is designed for middle school teachers.
Workshop goals:
- Deepen understanding of phenomenon and problem-based, three-dimensional learning as described in NRC’s Framework and the NGSS.
- Increase ability to lead three-dimensional, phenomena/problem-based science teaching and learning into the classroom.
- Enhance abilities to use routines, strategies, tools, and processes for enacting phenomenon and problem-based, three-dimensional learning experiences with students and embed them into your instructional materials.
Who should participate?
- Classroom teachers
- Teacher leaders
