Associate Director and Senior Research Scientist

Molly Stuhlsatz serves as Associate Director and Senior Research Scientist. In her roles she works directly with the organizational leadership to provide strategic oversight of the organization’s daily operations, programs, and internal culture.

Over her 20+ year tenure with BSCS, Molly has developed a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s mission and impact. Her research career has been marked by a focus on understanding the mechanisms that bridge teacher knowledge and student outcomes. She has served as a Principal Investigator or Co-PI on numerous high-impact, NSF-funded projects, including the STeLLA® (Science Teachers Learning from Lesson Analysis) program, which established new standards for video-based professional learning in science.

Today, Molly bridges the gap between BSCS’s diverse internal groups, coordinating efforts across the Executive Director’s office, the Program Council, HR, and the Advocate Council to ensure the organization’s operational heartbeat remains aligned with its mission to transform science education.

A sociologist by training, Molly holds a BA and an MA in Sociology from the University of Colorado. Outside of her work ensuring BSCS thrives, she enjoys hanging out with her family, gardening, knitting, and maintaining her collection of vintage motor scooters.
